A street scene in the high-mountain village of Agira in north-central Sicily, the birthplace of ancient Greek historian Diodorus Siculus who wrote a massive multivolume history of the Greek world in the 1st century B.C. The village's original name was Agyrium. Its streets are steep and narrow, and it is located far, far from the madding crowd.
