A bronze statue of police Inspector Montalbano, a creation of Sicilian writer Andrea Camilleri and lead character is a series of mystery books set in Sicily. The statue is on a sidewalk in Camilleri's hometown of Porto Empedocle, site of the fictional village in his books, Vigàta. This statue is across the street from a giant statue of Luigi Pirandello, the town's 1936 Nobel Prize winner in literature.
